Dem LIPA Legislative Commission Members Named

New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie have named their choices to the LIPA Legislative Commission.

Senator Stewart-Cousins issued a press release appointing Senators Kevin Thomas (D- 6th Senate District), James Gaughran (D- 5th Senate District), and James Sanders, Jr. (D- 10th Senate District), to serve on the Legislative Commission on the Future of the Long Island Power Authority. Senator Kevin Thomas will be serving in the capacity of co-chair.

Assemblymember Heastie issued a press release appointing Fred Thiele, Jr. (I-3rd Assembly District), Stacey Pheffer Amato and Judy Griffin to serve on the Legislative Commission on the Future of the Long Island Power Authority. Assemblymember Thiele will be serving in the capacity of co-chair.

Heastie's release stated "This legislative commission will investigate and report to the Legislature on the establishment of a public power model for the operation of LIPA, including specific actions, legislation and the timeline necessary to restructure LIPA into a true publicly owned power authority."
