NEWS FLASH!

Reimagine LIPA has sent a letter signed by 100 concerned organizations regarding the Legislative Commission on the Future of the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) to Governor Kathy Hochul, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, and cc’ing the Executive Energy, Environment, and Economic Development Staff (“Central Staff”).

The letter endorses the mission of the Commission to end the Long Island Power Authority’s management contract with PSEG LI and transition over the next two years to what LIPA was intended to be: a fully public utility, under public control, serving the people of Long Island and the Rockaways.

It calls on Governor Hochul and the New York State Legislature to embrace this endeavor by passing legislation to implement a fully public model for LIPA in the FY 24/25 NYS budget.
